Overview
Gaffney Construction built the addition to Imagine Children's Museum in downtown Everett. The expansion doubled the museum's size, creating room for new exhibits while keeping the museum at its existing location.
The new galleries give children room to explore Pacific Northwest woodlands, marine ecosystems and the Port of Everett, alongside spaces for engineering and hands-on work with tools.
Building with mass timber
The addition uses cross-laminated timber floors and walls with glue-laminated beams. During construction, Gaffney diverted more than 98% of site waste from disposal through recycling.
The completed building combines the new exhibit space with efficient mechanical systems and low-flow plumbing fixtures.
